Una Giornata Tranquilla, translating to “A Quiet Day,” is a short Unreal Engine environment showcase inspired by my travels through Venice, Italy. The project focuses on recreating the atmosphere of the city in the early morning, before the tourists arrive, through a stylized, filmic lens.
Built in Unreal Engine 5, the environment began with blocking out a section of Venice using real-world map data, followed by kitbashing multiple asset packs to construct the scene. Adding environmental details such as birds, AC units, and cables, inspired by my travels. Through compositing and refined render settings, I achieved a soft, vintage black and white look. On this project, the environment design, lighting, cinematography, rendering, and compositing. The piece combines environmental storytelling with subtle animated vignettes.
